Is it possible when doing a conversion from 1.2 to 1.6 to keep the original 4 speed box? is this still the same size clutch as the 1.2 or can a larger gsi/gte one be fitted
nope. the e16se/c16se has a bigger flywheel & clutch, so it needs the f13 box, which has a bigger bellhousing.
the box is a straight swap for the f10, but needs work on the gearstick. I prefer fitting a 5speed stick assy, but lots of people saw a bit off the bottom of thestick.

could i not fit the flywheel and clutch from the 1.2? and still run the f10??
Better to ditch the 4 speed, a 5th gear on the motorway would be better

why keep a 4 speed? the ratios are long on them and you get no top end, fit an F13CR box!

under the rubber boot of the gearstick, theres a white plastic surround to the stick that (on the left side) channels it under a runner to engage reverse, and (on the right side) is a stop block for 3rd and 4th gear engagement, if you saw this piece of plastic off on the right side, so its flush, the gearstick can be moved further right into position where 5th would normally engage. soz for the cyborg speak, hope u understand.
