View Full Version : Lower and Alloys you guys & thoughts???
I'm planning on getting some new alloys and -60mm shocks!
From what I've heard, 17's are a bit of a pee take and often not worth the hassle so I think I will go for 16's! Know all the issues but wanted to be sure!
Will
-60mm
7 inch wide 16's et45
Fit with just rear arch grinding/rolling!? It is a MK2!
If not then obviously the same ones in 15's et49 will I know but would prefer 16's really!
Mind you though, the ones I want are ?399 for package in 15 and ?625 in 16's! :o
What would you lot do?

16"s
slam it 60mm
might need rear arches rolling (near certainty-mine did)
if you grind(try not to grind-get em rolled if ya can), make sure you underseal under tyhe arch really well or it'll just rot the arch away. :!:
When you grind, obviously you dont go past spot weld, but do you grind from back of arch by bumper rite to very bottom of arch? And then hammer rest up if needed?
What do you need to do the undersealing and how is it done properly?
Cheers

Still, with a cash difference of ?225 between 15's and 16's and a one inch diff for all that arch work, is it really worth it?
Your thoughts!?
To be honest, im not bothered bout the cash and will be having arches done anyway, just don't see the point in spending ?225 difference! Especially becoz the 17's are like only ?50 more than 16's! But I know 17's would be far too much hassle and make drivin silly!
VERY STRESSED - Fukin bastards ?225 for 1 inch on each rim for the alloys i want!

if you get 15s with spokes that go right to the edges, or even flat blades are well cool, they look huge when on a car
so like u say for the money it ent worth it

id say if you for the 16"s grind yer arches rather than rolling, you will see why in 18 months.
hey m8, why just put 16's on go the whole hog and slap a set ov 18's on!! i just put a set on mine 2 day and there is only i rear arch that is needing very slightly ground off wi an angle grinder!!!

is it lowered? after the lengths breeny went to i cant imgine it thats all.
No his aint coz I read a post he made the other day!
But I don't really the sit off the ground like tank look, want it slammed, so 18's arn't an option and they will still cause massive steering probs!
Still undecided, the wheels are the Team Dynamics motorsport's which are in et49 15's and et45 16's

I too find that amazing to believe, not saying your lying just like to see what you say after you been driving around for a week or so.
Get hold of a number for someone who can supply cheap driveshafts!
point taken ben, but honestly m8 the only bit that is rubbing is the back drivers side arch and thats only a couple ov mm so will be very easy to take off with an angle grinder or even a file!! the only thing thats scrapping is the front bumper cause its toooo low!! arrgghhh
