...are you going to have to travel to get to the National day and/or PVS?

To the campsite for the national day (DE12 8JD), multimap says 182 miles... and to Santa Pod (NN29 7XA), multimap says 215 miles - that's a good 3 tanks of fuel for each round trip then lol

Google maps says : 25.6 mi – about 50 mins for the National Day and 94.7 mi – about 1 hour 54 mins for Pod :)

how is santa pod further when the national is higher up

national = 60 miles so 20 quid fuel

pod = 16 miles so a fiver fuel lol

Jack
08-05-09, 10:22 AM
Craig, yep.

Burgo, because to get to Pod, us SW lot go up the M5, across the M4 then up the A34 - so we have to drive across the country as well as upwards. The camp site for the National day, whilst further up, is basically a straight drag up the M5 for us.

Yeah, just looked up the route.

Northampton is an absolute mare for us lot. great reason for shows to be elsewhere (PV, Billing & TRAX all in the same area!!!!) & the distance to the national proves it.

it ent that bad. imo its easier to go up the m5, m42, m6 to the m1. im sure it only took me 2 hours to get back from swindon going that way

1st time I ever went to PV (the 1st one in 2002 infact) we got led cross country by Tom Stickland & despite it being lanes & minor B roads all the way, it was quite quick.

Sat-nav brought me home some weird, random way last year & just dumped me onto the M5 at cheltenham, the quiet junction.

Haven't a clue what way we went last year, all I remember is being on the M4 when Ash's cooling system had a prolapse lol

Even if we went the way Burgo says, that would still be further than the national day IMO. Either way, I'm bringing some spare cans of fuel just in case. Sods law i'll hit the saloon's range max (of about 160 miles!) and there won't be a fuel station for miles

We did the M4 to J13 (iirc), up past Oxford on the A34 etc. Crap route but the easiest, least likely for BIGS to get lost (doh) lol

170 miles to pod for me, 160 to billing, can just about make a round trip to each on one tankfull in the vectra, but not doing pvs this year so that's £65 saved just in fuel!

I feel sorry for people like vaughn and keith, they'll be doing as many miles in a weekend as I do in 2 months getting to either of those places!

national day 21miles
pv 51miles

the national day is about 25mins cross country...
the pod is never, cos I hate the damned place

bristol to the pod: the easiest way is via swindon & up the a420 to oxford, then take the A34 to northampton. fine if you like gatso cameras, 128miles
bristol to the nat day: 119miles

Lynsey

Well, there are my answers, as I'll be travelling from Dougie's house in Bristol. I hate the jouorney over to Pod from Bristol, it's well not as good as the journey from Manchester. Miles don't bother me though... I'm used to travelling up and down, up and down, up and down.
