in other words its a redtop?
There is no such thing as a "redtop" this is just a slang name attached to the XE engine by people who dont know overly much and want to sound like they do due to it having a red spark plug cover, i mean if it has a blue cover is it a blue top?
^^ cool, i have a matblack top
I got a whitetop-and-block then, cool :D

Nope if it has a blue cover then its still a redtop :thumb: .
Handy way of dividing Red Top/Ecotec. Both are XE's, however only one is Red Top.
red top is C20XE and the ecowreck is X20XE isn't it? That's a handy way of dividing them lol
the blue top was the special 300bhp race version

Ecowreck 2.0's are XEV's ;)
Early small block twin cams are also XE's though, which makes it even more complicated
Yep XE's with a V ;)
NV's are the way forward (not very quickly though:()

Really, was there ever a "blue top ". I did hear something that came out of the factory "nick-named" the "blue top" which was 2.0 pushing roughly 200bhp?
Again I did only hear this. I have tried looking (Google) but can't find anything so just presumed it was false.
Its in the field full of brand new Nova shells and the Lotus factory 2.0 Nova.

Exactly what i was about to say! lol lol
And i hate the Chav term "red top"
Bear in mind Toyota 3S-GE BEAMS engines were also referred to as "Red top" (200ps, from the Caldina, Celica and MR2; also came in "grey top", 180ps from the Rav4, and "black top", 210ps from the Altezza)
