Im currently having a problem with driving my xe as my temp guage loves to sit at the notch just before the red on the standard 1.2 carb nova dials. The car so far has had a new 1.6 rad fitted, cool running thermostat, temp sensor, temp sendor, fan temp switch and running a 50/50 mix of antifreeze/coolant.

The thermostat opens at 82* and the fan switch operates at 92*.
I have the fan on a manual overide also, but if im not using that then the fan only kicks in as soon as the temp needle hits the red on the dials. But if i run around constantly with the heaters inside on full, and the fan overide on, so thats also running, the temp sits at the notch before the red (inbetween mid way on the guage, and full on red).

I dont give the car abuse, and is normally driven between 2-3k revs.
The bottom hose on the rad is cool when the fans in action, and the header tank is warm, but not at boiling point.

Im unsure wether i have a dodgy guage, temp sender or a general overheating problem... Can anyone help or advise things to try.. Cheers

I may not have read that right, but what makes you think it is overheating?

Because the temp sits on the last normal notch before hitting the red, with my heaters and fans on for cooling.... surely the needle would be around the mid mark if everything was fine and dandy... i dont know anyone local with this conversion to compare :(

DO NOT DO THIS!!!!!/\/\/\

if you remove the stat fully, the coolant circulates the fastest way around the block, missing cylinders 2, 3, and 4. so the gaue will say 1/4 temp but the other end of the block will overheat due to the coolant not flowing. id suggest the 1 pin sender is goosed or the guage is muffed.
