XE thermostat to rad hose

I've got a brand new Nova SR pipe that should fit but doesnt seem to fit right, does it need trimming down?

I used a 275x32 repair hose from Halfrauds

yep will fit if trimmed down.

I take it that its the long part that fits onto the thermostat?
