Hi guys i wonder if you can help me?

Im 17yrs old and am looking for a nova but cant deside on which one to get, 1.3 sr or 1.4 sr.I know the 1.4 has a few more extras than the 1.3 but dont know wheather there worth it.

i have also looked at the sri version and like the sound of it.i have got insurance quotes on all 3,

1.3 sr=?1.901.68
1.4 sr=?1.986.09
1.4 sri=?2.197.12

bearing in mind that this is my first car can anyone help me deside which one to go for.

thanx!

Have a look out for mint J/K platers...like 1.2's, flairs etc. Then you will have a solid, cheap to insure nova which will be a good base for further modifications.

Picked up my K-reg flair for ?800 IIRC

in terms of trim levels and performance the sri wins out.

1.4 SRs are faster than the 1.3s (weve had the debate on here many times and the 1400 is always confirmed as faster. ive owned them both back to back and 1400 IS faster)

i like the 1300 mk1s though, as i prefer the mk1 styling

Go with the 1.4 ;)

Your quotes seem a bit high, mine was only like ?900 for my first year, no NCB :?

lol @ paying 2grand for insurance, just get yaself a 1.2 to start off with, insurance shud be no more than a grand and u can easily mod it!! tis the much better option m8!!

yer thats right, just make sure you get a good clean shell, no rot at all. then you can transplant a bigger engine in at a later date.
check this-its cheaper for me to insure my 2litre nova in a 1.4sr shell than it is to insure a base model 1.6 gsi.

I av been using swinton and AA for my insurance quotes and have found them cheaper for me than others (even Tesco). It doesnt cost much less for a 1.2 merit than a 1.3 sr. I know alot of you are stunned by my findings on the cost of my insurance, would it be possible to give me some ideas on where to go because some places dont wanna touch me cos i am 17.

thanx for the replys.

read my guide and ians guide on this site m8

insurance wise try the recommended companies

1300 SR shud be cheapest as its only group 5 where as the others are group 7 insurance!

as all the other guys have said really. get yourself a MINT example J reg or similar if u can - a good base for a project

my first 1.2 was a H reg and my second 1.4SR is a J Plate

i was more inclined to rip my old car apart etc than i am now - basically because i (IMO ;)) own a very nice example SR and its very clean and tidy, and i like the looks the way it is so i dont wanna rip it apart as it seems a shame, gone down the nice subtle styling route

go for a base, or a middle range car if you want to rip it to pieces.

id advise against AA

only person in our family to get cheap motor insurance from them is my mum, and although all of us are members of the AA and supposed to get discount - we found it CHEAPER to buy insurance from RAC WITHOUT being a member of them!!!!!!

explain that one............
