HOW TO* Wire a 2ltr Into A NovaDepending on what nova model you start with will depend on how easy this will be. Vauxhalls normal setup is to have 2 main looms. One for all the lights, interior, radiator, fans etc and one for the engine. These 2 looms are then connected by a few plugs. Some nova models are like this and some aren't like the SRi & SPi where these 2 looms are integral. If you have an integral loom it is worth spending the time cutting it all out. It will leave you with half dozen permanent & ignition lives and earths but this is not a bad thing as they can be used for guages etc later on.

I have a j reg mk sr currently with a 14nv carb engine, with regards to wiring with a 2 litre could someone tell me whether that model has 2 seperate looms or are the joined together? If they are joined together would it be easier to use a loom from a 1.2 injection nova(assuming that has 2 seperate looms) I also have then join that to the xe loom?could I have your suggestions as to what is the best route to go down, also where is the point you can tell there is one integral loom or two seperate ones? Thanks

Only car with intergrated loom is the SRi. I had this ball ache. Just got another loom from a scrappy.

Oh, and this should probably be posted in the tech section. Hey ho.

Mate you need to speak Lee hes seem to know there stuff with the old looms.
I think you use the xe engine loom ie all sensors etc and the nova starter altenator looms etc and then join the internal wires ecu, fuel pump etc etc

if its a carb engine it will more than certainly be a single loom as it won't have an engine loom as such.

You'll have the loom for the starter, alternator etc which you keep. The only other sensor you'll have going to the engine (from memory) is to the thermostat housing which is part of the car loom.

Hope this helps, and someone please correct me if its wrong.

Ok thanks, i'm not really sure what I have to use, im guessing that I use the loom I have for the 1.2, i say loom I jus mean the loom for the inside of the car interior lights etc then attach the xe engine loom into it, thats the theory anyway, have you got 'lees' details so i could PM him? Thanks

Its really easy with the carb loom purely because there's less wires to faff around with.

I used to race R/C cars in Tadley :thumb: Would have thought it was closer to newbury though  Unless there's another tadley lol Anyways, not that far from me, know what you mean though it seems very quiet in this area :(

Live conversion would be awesome lol I think you'd get 8 different opinions on everything though lol

I can just see a mass of 20 people surrounding a car and it being like a dodgy bomb disposal scene from a cheap movie "no the red one" "green" "definitely blue" and some tit running around at the back going "pink, purple, yellow, orange" to make it sound like 6 people

"No you hold the hub while I beat the tie bar to remove the bottom ball joint!"

"Hurry up and disconnect the speedo cable, its taking the weight of the engine!"

"Move that passenger side shaft so i can get the gearbox up past it!"

"Battery connected? Yes! Ok - ...Ah deh deh deh deh deh deh deh.....A deh deh deh deh deh deh.......baw baw baw baw.... YES!!!!!"

Some common expressions lol
