Hi all,
I have a couple of weeks off work and the gearbox on the 1.0 has given up the ghost, got a quote on a 1.4 16v in the nova thats pretty good so I fancy getting cracking.
Problem is search feature wont let me use 1.0, 1.4 or 16v as search tags so I cant use that to look for a guide. Can someone give me a list of the parts and work needed as I will be doing the work with my dad and his knowledge is all Morris Minor based (ie A series and a few twin cam Fiat engines). Obvious engine, gearbox and ecu but what needs doing and getting? Any project links appreciated.

You will need a drivers side engine mount from 1.2-1.6 petrol Nova, other two mounts are the same. You will also need key/chip/immobiliser iirc.
edit - also injection tank with mpi pump

Well you can get those if you want but they are not necessary. You would still need to get an OHC driver's side complete engine mount.
edit - theres possibly more stuff needed but those are the things I am sure of.
AW06 is your man, he has just converted a Nova to 14 16

Anyone know where I can get an Mpi tank and pump asap.

Nice Nova that dude. I had a red 1.0 since summer 07 but crashed it at start of feb. Put a 13 8v in then a 16 8v
No one that looks like this on 1.2 - 1.6 novas

That is not needed.
You only need the actual mount itself.
Thats why i said one that LOOKS like this. Maybe he dont know the diffrence between a 1.0 mount and a ohc one
The chassis mounting on a 1.0 is identical to a 1.2 - 1.6. The mount itself also bolts to the chassis the same. Where it bolts to the engine is the only different part.

Mate a 1.0 mounting point on the chassis is the exact same as what you have posted above. I'm not trying to argue, just keeping the right track.
I have both types of mounts outside but its too dark to take pics.

Sorry dude didn't see your last post there ^^.
Yeah I thought that too til I done the conversion from ohv to ohc. Just need the mount. A typical way to tell the difference between the mounts is that the 1.0 mount has a small cutout/recess for the fuel pump on the front of the 1.0 whereas the ohc doesn't have this

Brakes
Injection tank or external pump
Engine, ecu with loom, key with transponder.

Can you use corsa shafts? Didn't think you can? I'm not arguing as I'm not 100% sure, I would actually like to know as it would be very handy to be able to use corsa shafts :)

im not 100% mate but assume all smallblock petrol engines ohc 1's anyway use the f10 or f13 gearbox so should use the same shafts?

Is this to fit the f15 gearbox? My 1.0 shafts fit both f10 and f13 (thats all I've tried)

Yeah something like that dude I think thats why corsa rear beams don't fit Novas either

small block nova driveshafts,
loom,
ecu,
keychip
transponder with loom,
tank,
pump,

Gear box - yep.
Shafts - use your current ones.
Engine mount - just get a complete driver's side mount from a 1.2-1.6 OHC Nova. No welding involved.
Bilsteins and 2.0 brakes are more than enough.
Wiring - don't ask me lol .
Edit - you may need injection fuel lines - I'm not sure if you can use rubber fuel hose due to the pressure of fuel. i'm sure someone will clear that up?

But yer like everyone has said, where ever you get the engine from make sure you get the key for that car, the imobliser pickup around the barrel (little black thing, il see if i can find a pic) and the ecu all from the same car.
Plus a MPI pump, depends what tank you chose, a SPI nova tank would be easyest as the pump is in top and you can get a pump from a astra and wont have to worry about mounting the fuel pump.
Basicaly try and get as much as possible from the donar car, Gearbox is a personal option IMO, depends if you want short or long ratio gearbox, but the one that came on the orignal engine would be a short ratio, nice of the line and maybe a slighty higer rpm at motorway speeds.
Anything you want to know just ask, the 1.4 and 1.6 are preety indentical apart from the price lol, and a 1.6 has been done enough times before.

Last day at work before my 2 weeks off, just put in a few parts searches, so I have asked for -
Corsa/Tigra 1.4 16v Engine and Gearbox
Ecu from above with original key
Mpi pump and tank
Drivers Side engine mount from a 1.2 or bigger injection nova.
Other than this will get some 1.2 or bigger driveshafts.
Got me finger crossed.
Should be easy. If you get stuck for shafts ive got a few pairs here.
Drivers side engine mount does not have to be from an injection Nova. Just 1.2 petrol upwards.
AW06 - are 1.0 shafts different to 1.2 upwards shafts? My 1.0 shafts fit f10 and f13, thats all I've tried
I have no idea lol, i converted from a 1.2spi, easy conversion.
But from reading around i think there the same, i think the acual 1.0 gearbox is different? but i cant see the diff being different lol
Yea think shafts are the same as I've used my 1.0 shafts so far on and 1.0 F10, 1200 F10, and couple of F13's.
Yeah the 1.0 gearbox doesn't fit other engines because the bolt holes are smaller or somethin, I never actually checked.

Right seem to have a gearbox, engine, ecu and original key sorted, just need the mount and an MPI tank and pump, any ideas??
You say key did you get the pickup from around the barrel inside the cowling?
Il have a look for a mount, i think ive got one somwhere.

Not picked it up yet so I need some kind of sensor from the cowling like and immobliser sensor?
