Sounds very good to me.

FIAT are funking rich and cunning at selling cars. Plus they have been working with GM/Ford (in europe, that includes the UK) for fecking years now so its just a formality really lol

If it keeps vauxhall afloat in the UK then its better than letting it die.

They (FIAT) are buying all they can right now. Didnt they out a bid in for Chrysler the other week? Would be good if they got GM/Opel/Vauxhall. And as Stu says they have shared platforms, etc, so why not!

Obviously better to have someone come in and keep them afloat but never been a fan of fiats, so I'm hoping their influence is kept to a minimum, didn't realise they've been working with GM though tbh Although I'm not really a fan of many new cars most of the modern vauxhalls have been pretty good in most respects, whereas the 2 people I know of that own fiats both have them throw up 5-10 ecu faults as soon as they start lol

fiat would take several years to actually change any gm products due to the lead times in development.

interesting fact.... Col. Gaddaffi our favourite Libyan owns a chunk of fiat

didn't realise they've been working with GM though tbh

The Corsa D is a current shared platform, can't remember what Fiat call theirs - Punto?

Vauxhalls current diesel engines are a Fiat design too I believe.

yep punto.

and if Vaux blag their cards right they might get a Fiat 500 style car to steal the rest of the market from Ford in that end of the game.

ahh and Fiat diesel engines are mostly "borrowed" designs from Ford and PSA.... Have to say, Fiat are a very well operated company in terms of looking out for themselves and making the absolute most of what they lay their hands on in terms of technology and proven work (these days that it lol)

fiat diesel engines i.e in the 500,punto are the same as in the astramk5 and corsa d ,i work for FIAT lol so there is already some fiat in the gm fleet :thumb:

dunno what year it is but the 2 people I know with fiat both own puntos and they're utter crap, one is a fairly close friend and the thing falls apart 10x worse than my nova! Guessing that isn't the shared platform version, although I've not really come across anyone with a corsa D, most modern vauxhalls seem pretty well built to me though from reviews/hearsay/being in them

the older fiats are utter poo,but tbh the new ones are 100 times better obviously there not perfect but are a vast improvement thats prob why there making so much money. It goes to prove because at this current time the owner of our branch has chose to extend the forecourt/showroom and weve jsut had a full refurb due to fiat changin their colur scheme

Be interesting to see if they keep Vauxhall or just ditch that badge and put it all under the blitz badge
