I have had my engine tuned but for some reason im struggling to get over 40mph. Once you get into 4th gear it and try to accelerate theses nothing, the speedo drops, if you chnge down and rev you can pick the speed back up but not for long.
Also it will cut out (all dash lights come on) when you aproach a junction or sometimes slowing down before stopping.
anyone have any ideas.
thanks

I'd take it back to who tuned it, assuming you think it is all linked & started doing it straight after...
Any air leaks under the carb/inlet etc? Start it up & spray carb/brake cleaner around the carb & listen..

It was playing up before i had it tuned..now it ticks over lovely, very smooth.I will give your idea a try, but if i had air leaks it wouldnt run smoothly would it?

try giving the carb a clean up, you might have a blocked jet, take air cleaner off and have a look see if all the jets working ok
good thing to do is run a bit of redex through

I was thinking on doing that, but the carb is brand new. I have some carb cleaner and redex, will have ago in the week. Anyone esle got any ideas?
Thanks novaguy08
look at the distributor as well. if the timing is a mile out, which if someone goes by the book, it will be, cos the book was for 2star leaded fuel, it will be gutless.

Timming seems to be spot on. im thinking the engine wouldnt be running smooth if the timing was out

check the vacuum advance is working ok, (im not sure how to do this but im sure someone will) if thats jammed or your not getting a vacuum then it wont run right when revving iirc.

Check cam timing - had same problem with a corsa and cambelt was a tooth out
Maybe check for fuel starvation - kink in a fuel line or faulty pump
