hi as of above any tips welcome please :)
Twist and pull. If you don't want to keep it molegrips help, as does a bit of heat.
Or hacksaw the lever in half and re-attach a knob further down :D

well it depends, if you dont want it and dont have any reason to keep it then molegrips :D thats the way i did it, mind you you will end up with a million bits! if you want to keep it then get yourself a heat gun and warm it up quite a bit will pull off with a bit of elbow grease, just dont let it cool down too much
I took just the stick out ( 2bolts at the bottom of the selector with the gator removed (See Haynes)) and then just stuck it upside down (So knob in water) in a jug of boiling water, few mins later i just poped it off.

hacksaw just below it. looks better and acts as a shorter shift

get a pair of mole grips or adjustable spanner u dont care about around the gearstick below the knob, it doesnt wanna be clamped on the stick, but it needs to be close whilst allowing it to slide up and down a bit, then give the grips a firm wack with a hammer/mallet from the underside upwards. the knob should fly off and hit the roof lining, re-fitting is prety much the reversal, place it in position and give the top 2 or 3 wacks with the palm of your hand.
