View Full Version : Choosing side mount bucket seats
I'm looking at some new bucket seats as my current base-mounted ones sit too high up on the subframes for my liking. What I want is: Black all over, fibreglass backed (and so hopefully lightweight), side mounted and a reasonable price (as in not £400 a seat!). Edit: Mustn't be too tight also, my current Corbeau Forzas are quite a wide seat and just right.
What have people got and how do you rate them? Pics would be good.
Cobra imola 2's really comfy and they do a GT (extra wide) version, normal ones are 360mm at the smallest point, GT are 410mm iirc. Pics are on first page on my project thread :thumb:
Ive got Sparco pro wrc seats, and there a nice snug fit and i aint the smallest of builds! LOL Think there the same as sparco pro2000
I've had suzukas and loved them, used them every day. Im running a Revolution at the moment and its a pain in the friggin **** lol.
My mates running an omp WRC and he loves it, im not too keen. have a look at some Magnum seats there fairly cheap and really well built etc.

Corbeau Sprint's are what I've got, haven't fitted them to the car yet but feel comfy (I bet they all do out the car though lol)
I bought those as a few people in a previous thread some 6-12 months recommended them. Got my pair for £120 delivered but they need some TLC, a good second hand pair normally will set you back circa £300, or about £450 new.
^^^ actually I find they all feel worse out of the car as your feet are sat too high/flat and it stretches the back of your knees, so they should be even better in the car :)
Thanks for the replies. I've been leaning towards the Corbeau range as I'm happy with the quality of my current Forzas, been looking at the Sprints, Pro Series etc. Something like the Pro Series would be good I think (comes in XL size which is a few cm wider which is good):

Rexy those Revolutions do look annoying for quick entry and exit lol
I've heard there's a long wait on the Magnum products but their prices are quite a bit less I guess.
Revo's FTW. Sparco WRC's are sweet too as are the Pro Series Corbeaus.
Also OMP Piste IIRC - FTW

I think it was me and Will F that recommended the Corbeau sprints, as we both have them in ours, don't think the guy sells them any more, but i bought my set new of ebay for £450 with alloy mounts.
In the car.

I chose these, as they were the lightest i could find at a cheap price with everything need to fit them, and as they had the most side support for your hips, as these don't let you move an inch once your in them!

£450 with mounts sounds good to me, I've looked on eBay and nobody is selling them new. Cheapest place I've found for Corbeau ones so far is PeterLloydRallying...
I'm thinking of taking a drive out to Demon Tweeks and having a sit in some buckets so will see how comfy they all are then. lol
Trip to try them out is a really good idea, as seats being comfortable are all dependant on your shape, my standard size imolas are spot on for me but barely anyone else I know can actually fit in them lol

Huum Not bad, though i payed £450 posted with the alloy mounts!
Seats are over £480 (http://www.sportseats4u.co.uk/corbeau-seats-sprint-bucket-seats-p-475.html?osCsid=e1f1c655ba280e39c3460e57ec615295) posted on there then another £80 for mounts etc

Had to trip to Demon Tweeks yesterday to look at the buckets - fantastic place to look at seats, must have over 40-50 on display!
Found most of them really uncomfortable or unsupportive. Didn't think any of the Cobra range was as comfy as the Corbeaus. In fact the only one I found comfortable enough for long journeys yet very supportive is this bad boy, the Corbeau Revolution, in the larger size:

So might have to go for two of them and hope the ears don't get in the way too much on the road...

I love my Cobra evolutions.
Worth the struggle everytime lol
Sat in some of those to compare, but didn't think they were as comfy as the Revolutions. What are the ears like for junctions and things like that?

Cheapest place for revolutions is balance motorsport £311 a think :thumb:
Ave had both revolutions and evolutions and imo the cobras are finished alot better.
I havnt done alot of miles on the road in my mk2 yet but what i have done theyve been fine. Blind spot is difficult and i leave alittle slack on the harnesses for tight junctions lol
My main problem is the gear lever hitting the seat cause im a short **** lol
£366 and £398 for the large version at Balance Motorsport! Cheapest place I've found is £350 for the large version at Peter Lloyd Rallying + £40 for a sidemount.
Blind spot is a bit of a worry yeah, but I could twist my neck and look through the hole in the shop so should be all good.

I've always found the Monaco's make you get a numb ****! lol
Imola II's without a doubt.
Cobra Suzuka's ftw! Very comfy for long distance's and very snug fit!! Fitted in our nova!;):thumb:
Been in my mates car for about 150 miles with the Corbeau Revolution's fitted and they give me a numb bum, very thin seat pad for long distance driving!

the suzuka pro series is also pure porn lol
I thought the Suzuka was uncomfy when I sat in it, thought the whole lot of Cobras weren't as well padded.
Jord4n, I have the Corbeau equivalent of those at the moment (Forzas), they're good for the money but a bit heavy so might as well upgrade while I'm at it.
I find my cobra imola 2's aren't overly padded out but it is in all the right places, so for me they're really comfortable, at least sat around in my room in them lol Hoping they're more comfortable in the driving position they were designed for :D

i cant see much difference between the monico pros (2009 range with side mounts) and the Suzuka both weight about the same, but the suzuka's are twice the prices.
what is the difference.
thanks
jord
Suzuka's are fiberglass I think, Where as Monaco's are steel framed. So in theory the Suzuka's should be lighter. Have you tried the Sparco range iainel? My Prodrive WRCs are ubber comfy! :D
yeah the suzuka is a composite shell design, and monacos are as said steel framed, plus the suzukas look sexier lol
Nothing took my fancy in the Sparcos on show at Tweeks. Can't remember why.
I think that Magnum Motorsport seats are really comfortable, im looking at getting one for my Nova.
I've got a Wide Magnum seat here also, But when i first stuck it in my rally car, I found I had to tilt it backwards abit to get comfy because as it was it sat to straight & was horrible lol
