my mk1 nova sr 1.4 redtop project

Well i got my nova about 2 weeks ago now its 1990 mk1 nova sr 1.4 in blue with a genuine 46k every mot and loads of service history. Since having it iv give it a right could cleaning, put a safety devices cage in, new sony m8800 stereo, uprated headlight bulbs and just got a redtop c20xe that will going in within the next 2 weeks, getting the cavslabs blasted and powder coated next week and the cage both in anthracite grey.
Heres some pics and there will be more to follow as get more things done.

Nice, always like that colour on an sr. Not much point in saying it but have you considered ditching those alloys? lol Never really seen the appeal of them.

Good plans for it though.

whats the colour called? is it breeze blue? i really like the alloys there not in very good condition but like iv said they'll be powder coated soon, iv got some comp mos for it but i dont like them :)

Nah breeze blue is a mk2 colour and its not lazer blue as I think that was just on gtes.
And its not nordic blue lol Its a nice blue though. lol lol lol

Nice car to base a project on.

I guess there can't be many laser Blue mk1 SR's left, they were rare anyway.

One of my fave old school Novas was Dave 'Fearless' France's Rusty Rocket which was based on the same car as this. Beauty!

i want to keep the sr engine but its not the tidyest and it dosnt run like new. il be keeping it anyway so it can always go back in if i ever decide to sell it, trying to keep it as original as possible and try and get it as clean as i can :) thanks

well thats nice to hear matey!! if you want to keep it get it striped and rebuilt there simple as the little 8 valves!!

Nice looking car you got there, love mk 1 sr's. Keeping it standard looking sounds a good plan. IMO it would drive and handle better with the smallblock in it.

Looks very nice :thumb: But imo you should keep it on the standerd engine and stay with normal lights :)

2nd'd clear lights = chav lol lol It would be good to keep the engine original but as most people get bored of 70bhp I can't blaim you!

i tried the lights today and they looked gay lol so the euro lights are back on :) iv got the redtop though but il be keeping the original engine thanks for all the comments

iv decided that with the work and plans iv got in mind for this car its going to be wrecking an original car therefor i suggest any1 that has a nova and is looking for something more original then please get in touch and do a deal on this car and save it before i ruin it :(

well seems like it may be staying now, going to start with taking the engine out as the sunp gasket clutch and throttle all need sorting out. going to get the wheels, cage and all ym engine bits blasted at work and powder coated and get the engine bay welded up reary for the engine conversion.

may be off the road for a few months but i want it doing properly instaed of overnight. pics to follow shortly
