I thought I'd share this with all the younger provisional license holders on here.

I'm paying £90 for 28 days, which is a very good price considering im the only person on the policy, its my own. Mum's not on it lol or i could pay £222 for 84 days. But if the 28 days end, i can just buy 7, 28 or 84 days on top. Good idea - no point in getting a full insurance policy out because its not likely that you will be usingn provisional for a year!
Thats good, but bear in mind the person who will be supervising you must have an insurance policy that covers them on the learner car as well (don't assume insurance for older people or fully comp gives you drive any car automatically, not all of them do these days)

Yes my mum has an insurance policy out on the car now which she's keeping.

taken from a direct.gov site...
If you want to practise your driving with an accompanying driver, the accompanying driver must be over the age of 21 and must have held (and still hold) a full licence, in the relevant vehicle category, for three years.
thats all it says, no mention of the superviser being insured...
i only raise this point as my brother is learning in my car, and my dad has taken him out several times and isnt covered for my car, either on his or my policys...
My mistake, you're right. Its a good idea though just in case the learner flakes out and the supervisor has to take over lol
Interestingly, they are considered to be in control of the vehicle though, so road laws (such as mobile phones, drink drive limits etc) still apply to the supervisor.
