ok thanks. which engine do ye think is better the 8v or 16v? which engine can be tuned easier to get more bhp?

IMO 16v, powerbox and cams plus a bit of ecu work can bring it to about 140bhp Maybe 150. Standard there already up on power over the 8v.

I beg to differ cooltiger, there reliable if there looked after, mines just not been looked after plus its the usual problems from a engine conversion.

does the 16v with the gearbox and drives/hubs fit in easy?

The same as the 8v

Wiring is preety much the same as the 2.0 aswell, imobliser is easy, just make sure you get the ecu, key and the transponder (inside the cowling around the ign barrel)

The wiring within the loom of the 16v is 'that' much more complex. So it invites running issues with age/neglect/& dodgy conversion bodges. Saying that various 8v's siuffer problems on here. So both offer pro's & cons. Personally I found the std 8v in my GSi a bit lame, hence why I turbo'd it & the C16XE I had was better than expected, though it was pretty tuned. They are revvy & raucous, so chosse the 8v if you want it a bit more civilised. (crazy exhausts aside)

ok all i need 2 do now is find an engine! i am going to fit d engine in my autocross car so the wiring does not need to be perfect.
