hi all

right i picked up my 4-2-1 janspeed exhaust manifold yesterday and a powerbox (just the box nothing else i.e instructions, hoses etc...) so now after my kid brother (jackerts) fetched me some nice 6mm rods do fasten the powerbox down, i have been playing with thee idea if fitting a larger throttle body :D i have one laying around off a 2.5 v6 which is twice as large and would wire up around the same. but i have a problem and the 1600 throttle body has an extra plug on it which looks like it is a chock or cold start sensor of some kind. i have also made an adaptor plate for the egr valve and that other one that you have to plate up when you add a powerbox

does anyone no what else you need to change?

Make sure you fit new gaskets ie tb and inlet fannymold, otherwise your end up with rough idling.
If you need fittings for vacumn connections to the airbox, plumbing fittings copper and plastic ones, in b&q are your best bet.
Double check that the throttle cable has the right fitting on the end to connect to the tb.

get some pics up matey.

you could of kept the egr on the back of the lower inlet bolted on tbh. but if made a plate then no worries.

leave the tb alone dont bother changing it. you wont gain anything. anyway imo

the threaded one is for brake servo.

one should also be fpr. then i think you plug the map sensor into it. its been 12months since i fitted one. so cant think what goes where exactly.

the throttle cable should just come round in an anti clockwise arc with the rubber sitting in that bracket. and to your tb.

what ends on your throttle cable tho? u may need a barrel nipple

The first plug is the air temp sensor, your have to fit it in the pipe somwhere.

White plug is part of the EGR/Blower stuff just leave it disconnected taped up somwhere.

And that is the map sensor, you need that connected to a vaccum from the powerbox otherwise the car willl run ****.

And that little black box needs to be connected to the electrics still, but apart from that its not needed.

well i have got the little beast running (no exhaust, or air filter) its reving around 3-4k im hoping its due to no exhaust and air filter lol

AlexW

3-4K? Thats not due to exhaust/filter.

well any idea's? thought it may be due to sucking too much air in

Just connect everything that needs connecting is probably best. Then everyone can help a little bit with the faults. :)
