1.3 in a 1.2

Just want to check first before i try and find a new engine that a 1.3 nova engine will sit straight into a 1.2 nova without changing looms or mounts. iv just found out the 1.2 is dead (burning alot of oil) and is cheaper just to get a new engine, but if it is a like for like swap i would give it a go. would the exhaust need changing or the brakes too?
Any help would be great on this. iv checked other threads but just wanted to make sure.

yes straight swap , but get all the hoses from the 1.3 engine as some as you need all the auto choke hoses , you can use the 1.2 exhaust if you stuck but it would be better to get the 1.3 one as will free up a bit more power ,

also the 1.4 is the same to swap in aswell

yeah piece off wee wee mate , you will have a black with yellow stripe wire taped up in your loom near to the oil sender wire , will have a black plug on the end , this is for the auto choke and thats the only difference

is the 1.2 an early carb 12st, or the later 1.2 spi engine???

if it is an early one, it is a straight swap, but the 1.3 manifold & downpipe should be fitted.

if it is a 1.2 spi, then there are loads of problems

Im not to sure, i didnt think it an spi, its an early 1990 mk H reg manual choke. How can you tell if its spi?

Auto chokes dont have a choke light as the light on the dash is only a tell tale to let you know its on like the handbrake tell tale!

Cheers guys, dont know why i asked, the injection came round in 92 i believe which included a 'cat' that my nova doesnt have.
Just need to find a good replacement now.
