i dont want to change the ecu, will the 1.2injection's ecu be similar to that of the gsi or will i have to get webbers straight away????
as far as i can see its more or less a straight swap from a 1.2 to 1.6....is this correct????Id be glad if someone can help!Cheers!

if you have injection already and you want a 1.6i setup then you'll need a few things...
ditching the 1.2i tank with it's infernal pump is the first of the barsteward jobs! you'll want to use the GTE/GSi pump with a GTE/GSi fuel tank, which may require re-routing and extending the original pipework :|
or you could stick with the original tank and pump and go for webbers or a standard carb.
Dropping the 1.6 in shouldnt be too much of a problem as the same engine mount points are used, although you will need an F13 gearbox (should still be attatched to engine) and the drive shafts/CV's etc.
As for mating the loom from the 1.6...it all depends on whether your going for the full GSi, with injection or ditching the injection...although I could be speaking through mt arse, coz I've only ever done a 1.3 carb to 1.6 injection b4 8)
the 1.2i pump/tank is fine for the gsi engine unless ur gonna do some mods to it. if you do just fit a cav2L pump onto the tank insted of the 1.2i and thatl b good for a 2L 16v then aswell.
you can keep the ecu etc in the car and just wire the gte/gsi ECU/lllom up aswell.
all u need is the engine/gearbox and injection system off the gte/gsi pretty easy really

the SPi pumps only run at 0.76 bar
GSi lumps run around 3bar
i think u'll really need a GSi pump - tank might be ok tho
thats right ye, it will run but ul loose a few bhp. you wouldnt really notice any problems unless u did a few mods which required it to use more fuel. jus put a cav pump in, much easier than fittin new tank/pump/lines etc

ok ok...have you guys run a 1.6i or higher (with the injections system) or higher with the spi tank? Coz I did and it just didnt work! If your starting the build, go straight for the proper tank!
I even tried adding a GSi pump in line with the internal pump and it just didnt provide enough juice...c'mon...who wants to loose a few BHP when there's perfectly good VTR's to beat!
