Howdy,
Has anyone got a copy of this weeks Motor Sport News?
I've been told there's a bit in there about Triple Eight building BTCC cars for Kia when they finish with Vauxhall at the end of the year. But I can't get my hands on a copy.
Can anyone confirm it's in there?
cheers! :thumb:

There is a piece in MN this week (page 9).
Kia representatives were at Thruxton as guests of 888, and they are considering a BTCC programme. They describe it as 'very early days' in the decision process though.

Whoever it is...it will be good to get another manufacturer in BTCC IMO. And if 888 are involved, bound to be a success.
Could possibly be a whole new revalation of uber sport Kia's?
I assume they'd be entering the cee'd thing? Can't think of any other kia's the right kind of touring shape/style tbh lol

Would have to be the Cee'd. Its the same size/shape as a Civic. Dare i say it, not a bad looking car.

lol the T is touring...so shouldnt it be a field of estate BMW's??!!
The Vectra, thats a hatchback. Infact the only "saloon" is the BMW.

lol and penalised for it IIRC. Not allowed synchro g/boxes??
They are allowed the gearboxes, but it costs them 30kg in weight penalties...
Kia are actually very highly regarded in Trophey Andros (Ice racing) where drivers like Alain Prost, Yvan Muller and Olivier Panis have all driven for them - as unbelieveable as that sounds!
We still don't know if Triple 888 will allow the Vectra's to be purchased by privateers. I hope they do, or maybe even continue the program - just without the full support of Vauxhall. They also run a team of Ford Falcons in Aussie V8's without works support, so if thy can get the sponsors I bet they would carry on :)

I reckon the Cee'd looks an alright car going by the ads. Bit of debadging & you'd never know.
Good luck to them & 888 if they do.
