Kelmel, it was generated when pig flu mixed with human flu, i.e. Someone with human flu was working with a pig that had pig flu. The two strains swapped genetic material and mutated into this new version which could infect both humans and pigs.

The influenza virus is actually a clever little bug, but usually its harmless. Example, you could catch cat flu from your cat but as it doesn't affect humans it won't hurt you. If you already have human flu though, the cat flu can merge with it and become a new virus thats dangerous to both cats and humans.

Remember bird flu? Same thing.
