the car still aint running. have been back to work and i get home late.

car wasn't starting and it was doing my head in. it jump starts but wont fire on its on steam. so on the look out for a starter motor now.
would have hed the car running on the 2nd day if it wasn't for the exhaust flexi problem

BRoadGhost
03-05-09, 09:03 PM
…Not gonna bother stiching the front end?

srs1
03-05-09, 09:07 PM
engine is coming back out again over the summer, if you look in my wip thread you'll see i f have a selection of goodies still to go in.

engine will come out and bay stitched welded up, roll cage married up to the front suspension, a quick rack fitted and probably a few more bits

Will F

Good work chaps...

So it starts on a jump? Is it lazy on its own then?

Could be an earthing problem, a gubbed battery or the starter - but the starter is least likely ime;)

engine coming back out after its already pulled itself to bits or weakened everything?

for the sake of a couple hours stitch welding would this not have been better??

did you change cambelt and waterpump for peace of mind before hand?

srs1
05-05-09, 10:28 AM
engine coming back out after its already pulled itself to bits or weakened everything? yes, cause i can

for the sake of a couple hours stitch welding would this not have been better?? no, it was raining and i wanted the engine running untill i have decided what route i'll take. I have two cars, so the nova will get used when i feel the need

did you change cambelt and waterpump for peace of mind before hand? same as above.

thanks for your constructive points, this is not the first or last xe'd nova i have done. so i know all the area's of concern.

will get the car running today, went to manc land last night and collected a starter motor off lee h and the very nice man andy017 (i think) gave me some proper sized flexi hose.

just want to get the car running and tried before i start stripping it down again. got my wedding in 2 weeks and mexico (lol) in 3 weeks, so time is running out to get car up and running for show season.
just want to get the car on the road for a few months and then it'll be stripped down again

Graeme
05-05-09, 11:24 AM
If your going to Mexico, getting the Nova running is the least of your worries, let me know if I can help with anything Sean (nova not swine flu related)

srs1
05-05-09, 11:48 AM
hahahaha, cheers graeme. after talking to you at last meet. i'm now saving up for the ring trip next easter. another reason the car is getting thrown together now so i can sort out any issues.

mexico aint going to happen now i recon. waiting on the call back today as they are releasing details on flights till end of the month. so will probably next year i'll be going.
riggy said last night he would sort out another meet soon. so we'll chat then about the ring more.

engine is still sat on the front lawn too lol.
gear box removed and oil all over the grass, that'll stop the kids playing footy on my lawn.
next time you go past, knock on the door. you obviously know where i live (stalker)

Good stuff lads :thumb: Sean, I thought you had gone off of XE's in favor of the smaller engines?

srs1
05-05-09, 09:14 PM
i had dar, but after getting the new job and the amount driving i am doing the xe is more ecconomical.

so i have sold my small block and got the xe instead.

srs1
05-05-09, 09:16 PM
car is now running and i have collected my strengthened lower arms and poly brushes for them. these will be getting fitted tomoz. bought new spark plugs also to give it a fresh kick.

looks smashing, and i know of plenty of xe'd novas that havent been welded, and haveint pulled apart. its rotten shiitters that do that, thats how the roumour started. if the shells solid its fine.

srs1
06-05-09, 09:13 PM
shell is solid, never failed a mot and never been welded in its life.

car is running and my quote of the day is
"nothing puts a smile on a mans face then a xe'd nova"

finally sorted out all the teething problems, car was running but only on 3 cylinders. after replacing ht leads, dizzy, spark plug and dizzy it was down to checking the fuel injection side of things.
low and behold, the fuel injection wires were not pushed in fully as a few of the clips were broken. time for professional both job number 2. cable ties were great lol.

i also had the rear poly brushes and not the fronts, so these will be ordered this week and then have all the suspension set up properly.

F@@k wedling it up, as Sean said the car is immaculate, i have had Novas which have had XE's fitted for nigh on 10 years and they had never been welded and held up fine. If you have a rotten pile of **** then fair enough but no need on a standard xe in a immaculate shell, if you dont agree stick your finger up your ass as i dont care.

LMFAO @ the BBQ, has anyone ever gone round Seans and NOT had a BBQ?

srs1
07-05-09, 11:04 PM
come to think of it ben. i'm having a bbq on the wedding reception too lmao
