urgent help needed

hi finished off putting the rest of the parts on my engine and came to turn the ignition on and nothing.its a 1 litre model which ive put a sport engine in the car has no alarm or immobiliser im using the original coil and that for time being. all the earths and that are connected the only problem i can see is that the wire down to the starter motor goes onto the alternator first then to the started which i have connected all together but there is one black wire left the connection looks like it goes onto an m4/m6 bolt connector tried earthing it out doesnt work HELP NEEDED

yes got ignition to come on but wont crank does anyone no if the starter motors are different on a 1 litre to the rest as there is 3 wires that go down to it

Does that spare wire have a red trace?

I think it goes onto the alternator (smaller terminal). Shouldnt stop it running though??

theres a white thick lead from the battery a blackwire with a red trace black wire also ive connected the wires onto the alternator

does the stater motor click when you go to crank?
check your getting a battery voltage feed to main thick wire on starter, then have someone hold it ign in crank position and check ignition feed to starter motor- make sure you get battery voltage to there.

theres nothing on the starter but ive got 3 wires aswell as the main power lead that goes onto the starter and alternator

these wires are these on the 1 litre wiring loom?
ill have a look through some diagrams for you if you can confirm this

yes they are on the 1 litre wiring loom

small plain black, black with red trace and blue with white trace

plain black goes to terminal 15a on starter motor
black/red goes to terminal 15 on starter motor
blue white goes to d+ on alternator

there should be markings on alternator and starter motor for the terminals

no u said u had dun all the grounds, on some models had a earth strap from the gear box to the car body found that i had a simler problem wen i changed engines
