At the moment i can't deny it, I was at work for 8 hours yesterday and not my usual 10 and during that time i actually did about 20 minutes worth of work... :lol: Seriously - there is just no work for me to do.

i thought web design was very well paid, have been considering learning a bit about it to try my hand with computers. Beats carrying heavy stuff around and arguing with people all night!

My job aint web design mate - the web design stuff i do self employed in my spare time I dont count that as salary because the amount i could earn depends too much on so many factors like what work comes in and what sort of thing they want from me.

Taking that stuff into account we probably earn about the same both jobs put together.

Problem is i need my full time job to be paying me what i am earning now... and as a new boy for a web design firm you get fook all. I looked into it loadsa times. Any jobs that are paying good money want about 4 years experience in loadsa software packages and you have to be qualified in this tht and the other - hardly ever goes on the uality of work you produce, which annoys me really coz that is just pointless.

i got the same sort of problem, i am a qualified Editor (television and Video) I have won various awards for the short films i have made such as the co operative young film maker of the year, a competion Eidos ran on Urban culture and i have had various work shown on ITV, had a showreel shown at the Cinema in Bristol.

But the only work i can get is as a Trainee wich is about ?9k and i cant survive on that. Wich is a pee take as i have qualifications.

The best job i can hope for is with the BBC as there main editing facility is based in Bristol but they are only accepting applications from people of an Ethnic origin.

Basically what they said was that they have to be seen to be employing fairly and equally so if an ethnic person's work wasnt as good as mine then they would still have to employ them so they dont get accused of racial discrimination.

Wich i find very discrimanate towards me but they dont care about that.

your very right there would be a national out cry but as i said this is life, i have settled on the fact now. Anyway they only except applications for the positions evey 2 years the first time i was 17 and you needed to be 18, the second time i was in hospital having a follow up operation on my hand and the thrid time was what i said earlier, and in two years time i will be too old :o

They just dont want me!

As for wisewood im sure they watchdog would love researching themselves, anyway i dont want the job if i havent earned it i want it becasue they want me and not because there told they must employ me.

Strongly worded letter to the head of the BBC informing him of what is happening might help you out mate - the people in charge often don't realise this sort of thing is going on.
