I can see what you mean after looking at the pictures again, but it took you telling me it was there to see it, and I think it looks a lot nicer smooth/painted. Depends how much it would bug you having the recess between the lights I guess :) Maybe a smoothed and painted colour coded plastic piece is the way forward?
