a little help plz

hi all..i have got some 40mm springs for my car but the problem is when there is a couple of ppl in the back seat the wheels rub on the side of my arch so i was going to grind off the lip but someone told me that it would feck the side of my arch up, and it would all need to get welded back together is that true or should i go ahead and do it ?

what is the subject name because i have just looked and all they are asking is if it is best to get shocks or not so if u could tell me the subject it would be a bit easier or then again u could just say if need to get them grinded off or not :lol:
