if its just going off the scale its earthed off somewhere, check the wiring and make sure that the sender is working ok

you need 2 pin sr/gte/gsi oil sender rather than standard 1 pin sender

Cheers guys unfortunatley I'm not up on this and going to have to pass this onto somebody else.
Does anyone have a picture of what they have done to make this possible? Are the oil senders still available from Vauxhall?

and not like this as this one just opperates the light were as the one above operates both light and dial!

Some people do get confused and well if it still does it, it either a crap contact or a faulty unit or reader! might just be plugged in the wrong hole, should be a blue wire with a yellow strip that goes on the left pin on the first picture and the black plug on the right is for the light on the dash board

That's more like it :D

I recall (I think) see it around the back of the engine. Is that right?

yeh should be at the back of the engien point downwards, if your looking at the front of the car it should be on the left hand side pointing downwards at an angle i think about 10 inches below the alternator, should be able to see it through the drivers wheel arch i think

cool probs got the second pictured one and have that plugged in, you iwll know because if you turn on ur ignition before you start look at the dash if the oil light isnt plugged in and thats why the oil reader is peeing over. but there not cheap them senders that one i got a picture off ebay £36 or something like that. wooo! can get them second hand, but most of them are 19 year old units and can be dodgey even if they say they are working fine

Send me a link for it mate. I can have a quick look at it :D

£36 quid is better to me than a gauge doing my nut in when driving about lol
