i have a nova gte with this spec, with injection its produced 145bhp. and now there is twin 40's added. so am guessing will be around 160ish
here is a spec of the engine

E16SE bored to 1650cc
courtney sport CS15 head with oversized inlet valves an ported and polished
piper rally cam
pipercams vernier pulley
twin weber 40 DCOE carbs
irmscher inlet manifold
piper x trupet socks
ARP conrod bolts
filter king fuel presure regulator
facet silvertop fuel pump
braided fuel lines
4 into 1 manifold


what else could i do to it??

i swapped my van for this. just wanted to see how fast a 150bhp nova was thats all.
am going to get a astra van or nova at the end of summer to put a let in.

try nos kit direct port injection set up for the carbs will see it go bit quiker but not sure how long it will last. . .or you cud put let in ther if it goes bang got a good let engine in my garage wot might sell if i dont find a nova over next few weeks to put it in.

i have simply swapped my van for this car, it may still be on pistonheads.

James, did it have an aftermarket ecu with it? (if not then there is no way in hell that engine pulled that kind of power with the limitations of the standard ECU (even chipped lol).

Need more info on the cam... "piper rally cam" is about as vauge as you can get lol.

but a typical engine of "that spec" sees about 150-155bhp on a REAL rolling road, be it carbs or std inlet with aftermarket ECU

I love the bored out to 1650cc bit. it means the rings werwe knackered & it has oversize pistons fitted.......

the old grp A rally novas with serious work done & very special cosworth pistons making very high cr used to get 150-155hp... and they would need rebuilding every couple of thousand miles.......

so it had a readout that said 143hp just before the bloke stripped all the gear off the engine.........ok..... so why if he then modded it right up, did he not have it across a rolling road to set up the carbs???????????????????

I've been at a set of rollers where we messed about putting the temp probe in hot coffee = +150ish bhp on a GT, then into an icecream and it lost about 200bhp on the read out... no changes to the car ;)
