View Full Version : Focus RS - Input needed
Being as i are now single & nearly debt free, a new car is calling.
Ive been taking a liking to Focus RS's of late, being as there quite affordable an actually not bad on the insurance.
Any one here owned one? Experiences with one? (Not bothered about modded ones blowing up, ill keep it standard)

Good cars, very cheap now for what they are:thumb:
The inside is a nightmare though, most steering wheels on them are shagged, due to the leather wear same with the seats, make sure you get a 53 plate one, they are much better, ford did a few recalls on them, which made them better:)
engine is good on them aswell,know a lad with a 300bhp one:thumb:
Yea all the ones ive looked at ive noticed the blue leather patchs on the wheels had worn thin! Your not the first person to mention the 53 plate actually, whats all that about you know?

I've been looking at the Renault Megane Sport (Its French yes) but for the same price you get a car with 30-50k instead of 70+ .
I'm not sure what they are like to live with but that’s worth a look at if you considering a sport hatch?

The 53 plates had stiched front seats,so that the leather doesn't 'push' back when you sit on them like the early one's did !!!
also they had a pink grommet on the throttle cable, because people were saying the felt vibration on the throttle all the time:)
also they had a push start button i think:)

Same price? £10k for a 21k mile RS? Id rather take the Ford my friend :thumb:

I dunno, the price of the RS will always stay around the £8k to £10k mark, due to the infamous RS badge & history/enigma around it. Look at the price of the Escos's, they were £32k new for an RS Lux model, you can still pay £12/£18k for a low milage 14 year old model!!
Altho Graham Goodes personal own Escos with 201 miles did sell for £38k not so long back lol lol

Fair enough lol

yeah any RS is worth alot of money and will hold there value, the only one's that dont are the mk5/mk6 escorts rs2000 and mk3 fiesta rs1800,because they wern't anything special.
you look at mk1 escorts rs2000/mexico/rs1600/twin cam
mk2 escorts rs2000/mexico/rs1800
all big money, ive known mk2 RS1800 to go for 35k same with mk1 escort twin cams:thumb:
All lovely cars with great racing history:cool:
Right just got off the phone about a particular car in Derby. 2004 54 reg, RS matts - check. Minimal wear on steering wheel - check. HPi clear with cert - check. Stitched seats - check. Private plate showing A20 FRS (or some sheet like that) - check. Just shy of £10k.

The RS looks the part, and does sound it.. although think all the VXRs have a much better note to them, driven a few RS's and what have ya... to me theres something wrong about them, you cant ever forget your in a ford.

nowt wrong with ford mate:thumb:
look sweet, but imho mike they look very dated now. I'd seriously consider the megane for 7k though. How do they compare price wise against the mk 2 focus st?

The fench car, would always break down thoughlol
I hate Meganes with a passion John! Not becuase there French, i just hate them lol
Stoo, im the same as you then chap, 23 coming 4 yeasr NCB, SP30 but points are now off license. The RS is still by far the cheapest vehicle to insure for me tho.
Lovely cars but for some reason the ATB they come with as standard just doesnt meld well. It will do its best to lob you off the road if you're not paying full attention. They're also a bit lardy as the bodykit was an afterthought and half of it is stuck over standard panels. Not a problem in the real world, but expensive if you stack it :(
Id still have one though :) Even the mrs' 1.8 f*ckus handles delightfully.

Nope lol im not paying Courtenays extorniate prices to tune them up. Only VXR I'd have is the Corsa, but Im not prepared to pay that much for a fecking Corsa lol the RS'll hit nearly 300bhp for about £400 should I decide to fanny about with it.
