View Full Version : Low idle/cutting out X14XE
Once again i have to post up about this POS.
Only when warm, idle drops to about 750rpm, and flutters a tiny bit.
May not sound bad, but pulling up to junctions it will cut out.
Flashing the codes puts out quite a few things that i wasnt sure about/deffo not probs lol
One of the main things was Knock sensor, bearing in mind my x14 is a early one with a single wire knock sensor, and this ecu is adams old X16XE one, which i belive have 2 wire knock sensors.
Doubt its the cause but worth asking.
Plugs were all sooty but all excatly the same. Any susgestions would be good.
Ask away too lol

Check for air leaks within the induction tract with carb cleaner & can I ask if the speed sender is connected to the ECU?
Speed sensor is connected, and was working when removed from the 1.2.
I will check for leaks tomorrow.
Also done a compression test, about 175psi on each.

Silly as it sounds but is the throttle cable caught on anything?
ICV?

ICV is the next thing to check, but i cant see it being that, due to only being when warm?!
was a single wire sensors on my loom :)
Hmmmm
Silly as it sounds but is the throttle cable caught on anything?
Not that i know of, but if it was caught on somthing i would have thought it to be high? Not low?

a ****ed body position sensor, will stull run as it will run off the MAP, just crap but would not cut out,
dave (peester) had this problem with his xe, this was due to a missing VSS
id say rewire it, or swap the wires over as theres two ;)
Yer i think its the VSS, im going to check it once i wake up enough.
Problery a dodgy connection that got moved when i had the engine out.
