replied on MIG, but i saw one on ebay a while ago, apparently went like stink!!
Not too familiar with the isuzu engine but if it is similar to the vauxhall 1700 8v low blow td then its pretty much the same as putting a 2.0 ltr in as its based on the 2.0 ltr block.

iirc the 1.7 is just the 1.5 bored out?

The isuzu is nothing like the low blow - but the 1.5 and the 1.7 are very similar.
A tweaked 1.7td engine is quite impressive for what it is.
Would go well in a light nova.

Because...
To do the 1.7 conversion you need to use bits off 1.5td
Because...its not simple to do at all.
first decide wether you are gonna use the 1.7 box or the 1.5 box. if your using the 1.7 box you need big block conversion shafts. if using the 1.5 you need the 1.5 clutch and flywheel i think.
next you need the 1.5 alternator and bracket an the 1.7 one dont fit because of the crossmember. however using the 1.5 alternator on the 1.7 fouls a water pipe. you could either use the 1.5 set up or modify the 1.7 one. i chose to modify he 1.7 pipe as its a much larger diameter than the 1.5 and i didnt want to hinder the cooling. i modified it by cutting it and having it welded at an angle to miss the alternator. even with this i still had to attack the alternator with the grinder
you need the 1.5 cam belt cover and engine mount and maybe a pulley. one of the 1.7 pulleys is different to the 1.5 and requires a hole drilling in the cam belt cover to make room for the nut on the pulley.
theres also a number of sensors that need swapping from the 1.5 to the 1.7 as the plugs are different.
thats what i can remember off the top of my head

Is the bracket on the diesel pump different between 1.5 and 1.7 as they are different between 1.7 N/A and TD, then there is if/were you are going to mount the cooler etc
no i think the pump mount is fine. there was some gay bracket on the back of mine which was in the way of the steering rack but i just unbolted that.

Think thats the one i'm on about...it mounts the back of the pump to the block....if so the N/A's one is smaller and doesn't foul iirc
managed to get it all swopped over at the weekend had a tweek with the pump yesterday and very surprised at how well it goes, need to start thinking about the f16 box as the 1500 clutch aint holding up to well. but overall pretty impressed
cheers for the help ill try get pics up once iv found the lead to my phone

i did this conversio in my corsa b van went very well
well not to good at the mo as my gear linkage has fell to pieces and havent got reverse or 5th but im sure as soon as i get 5th back it will be at least 45mpg id imagine
lush another TD animal :).
hahah dunno about it being an animal, its covored in oily hand prints still not had chance to wash it. had to turn the fuel down as clutch slip isnt too good, has anyone done any mods to the exsisting nova engine mount to make it stronger or at least look like it could withstand an engine, really not liking the 2 bolt idea
i didnt mod it i just kept a spare pair of bolts in the car lol. dont worry tho as when they snap the engine cant fall out because of the alternator

this is one of the reasons i put the 1700 in as the 1500 "fell out" does go really well, im surprised tbh
now get 20 psi going through it ;)
now get 20 psi going through it ;)
is that proven
and how much overall fuel you give it?
a boost guage saying 20psi is proven i think. my brother has had his astra at 20psi for a while aswell. fuel is a case keep turning it up until your happy basically.
do you have a boost tap on it?

My corsa ran 1.5bar (and still does) and its fine
do you have a boost tap on it?[/quote]
no not yet thinking of tho just to have a play about,
would it be acheiveable to get 100 horses out of one?

When i had mine rolling roaded it ran 116bhp and 175lb ft with a fmic, exhaust and upped fuel and boost (only 1bar/14psi) i then increased the fuel and boost on the operators recommendations so i recon its around the 120bhp mark now....
yes piece of piss.
why are you bothered about horsepower. your on the darkside now, torque is your friend
