View Full Version : Headlamp Protectors: Fixing a Crack

Got a set of Mk2 headlamp protectors unfortunately one has cracked and part of it come off (happend a while ago when I shut the bonnet). Anyone got any ideas on how this could be neatly mended? You can't even notice the cracked part when fitted to the car and the bonnet down but was wondering if theres a decent solution to repairing it?

Super glue but be careful you don't get it on your fingers or you will leave prints on the plastic, like a CSI crime scene lol

If careful I would have thought so. Either that or if you can get your hands on a glue gun, you can get clear glue attachments for them.

EDIT: some wiki glue info GET HEATED (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glue_gun)

Yeah mate, super glue FTW, shouldnt stand out if you just put a couple of drops on the mating surfaces. Decent glue required!

Since you probably have some around, RC tyre glue is just superglue on crack :thumb:

edit: was thinking of someone else lol If you do have some though, it is just superglue on crack, avoid proline though lol

Or sell them cheap to me for two reasons,

number one... Theyre damaged,

number two... You have a mk1 and dont need them:thumb:

I'll give it a go with a bit of Loctite then and see what happens.

lol They're actually in mint nick apart from that bloody crack!

And I think my brother may have already claimed them for his GSi :(
