as ive been working on my XE and it now runs im worried the standard manifold will melt my radiator and the rad fan cowling as its very close, the rad core is ABS plastic along with the cowling being plastic
the eng has been fitted using the M-Tech kit
the rad is a Valeo 1600 GSi unit with the standard O/E rad fan and cowling
am i worried about nothing?
manifold is not wrapped in the heat tape, but is it bad to keep to much heat in??
should/would an extended stanless heat shield cure the issue?
cheers

You Worry Like My Mother !!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you wrap it you will notice a great reduction in under bonnet temps which is good .
How close is very close? I think I had an inch or so clearance between my manifold and fan cowling and no problems with heat here.

closest area is the bit between manifold and cowling
its not much more than 1.5cm
the rad seems to sit back at a slight angle, should it not be more upright

rad sits at an angle, i could move the brackets to bring it more vertical

i trimmed a 4 inch square from the fan cowling with a hot knife on mine. no melting since. it looks the correct distance tbh.
I wouldnt worry about the fan housing, mine never melted. If it does, it will give you the correct clearence itself with no effort.
My corsa melted itself a perfect semi circle in the rad fan housing lol Neater than if i cut it out
