C16XE engine

Right, im looking into gettin myself a C16XE engine to go into my Nova, but im after the lowest insurance group one (apparently your insurance co work on the group on the car that the engine is taken from)

After looking on the parkers website, the lowest group one i can find is an astra 1.6 16V but does anyone know of a lower one? and is the C16XE in the astra or is it only the X16XE?? (which im trying to avoid really but will do if thats all i can find)

the c16xe only came in early corsa gsi's. Dont know about from an insurance perspective. I originally had an x16xe fitted in my corsa and when it started running like **** i replaced it with a c16xe. Told insurance company and didnt change anything

c16xe did only come in the corsa gsi and my insurance gave it a group 11. :(
But its legit so meh :D

Indeed. The C16XE is the early Corsa GSi spec engine with the AFM (makes it easy to spot). X16Xe's came in Tigras & Corsa sports. An Astra will likely have the X16XEL which is less power again. (90ps?)

ok then, so it looks like im going to have to fit an X16XE then as i dont wanna be breaking a Corsa GSI unless someone has lumped in another engine and theirs is just laying about. ill read into exactly which engine is in the Astra then as again its the lowest insurance group.

Im assuming that an R-reg Astra will have the X16XE im hoping its not an XEL, its an Arctic

Plenty of c16xe's about, no need to buy one to break. Most GSI's have been red-topped by now anyway. Just keep an eye out

well its in an astra on eBay, so its going to be quite difficult for me to do that lol............ however i will ask to see if they know, where abouts is it on the block btw?
