can anybody tell me what that thing (technical term lol) its a cylender under the drivers side wing on my sri?? what dos it do and do i really need it!!

I'v got one of those on my car and I have been told it something to do with the catalitic converter

active carbon canister

takes the fumes from the fuel tank, does summat to them, then feeds em into the throttle body for combustion

this is true, vapours are taken out of the fuel system on the fuel rail. you will see a little thing attached to ur bulhead with some thin pipes connected to it, these run to some thicker pipes then to this canister, that also runs across the front of ur car under the rad. what it does is to stop the petrol fumes from going into ur injectors which would cock up the mixture and to feed them directly into the air intake which means it still gets burnt but doesnt affect the mixture. also reduces emissions
