and todays work, cracking right on:

ok so today i cleaned up the engine bay, went and spent 70 quid on

spark plugs
ht leads
oil filter
fan belt
exhaust rubber
center section
air filter

think thats it.

chucked the HT leads and plugs in, the old ones were knackered big time so all is good now, removed battery so no unexpected shorts or anything.

removed ****ty heat as it looks naff lol. degreased the under side of the air box and the outside of the injector.

removed the rear bumper and started attacking the rear arch
found this...

http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c325/bmw156/fiesta/pngtop050.jpg

some grinder abuse later and got to this ( bare in mind this is my first ever grinder attack and panel repair lol)

http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c325/bmw156/fiesta/pngtop051.jpg

found this large amount of filler.
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c325/bmw156/fiesta/pngtop052.jpg

and then finished up like this

o and i tested my alloys i picked up, dont think im gonna keep them.

how easy is it to replace a wing? is it a case of drill spot welds and weld new one on?? (nova are bloody bolt on so piece of piss lol.)

comment please.

p.s no abuse please lol, this is just for me to practise welding on befor i ever take on a panel on the nova. so see it as abusing the fiesta.

have got my new arches today as well, hench the black lines on the panels for rough guides.

I like that arch cut out lol. no serously consider a clean cut and pact to inner ect and leave it with masive arches and no bumper.

ok so have been doing some work on this bag o crap some more. an i keep finding rot lol. was a hole about 30cm long and 5cm wide in the passenger footwell, and welding it up. ( no pics yet)

and then today i carried on cutting out the arch for my new panel.

and then tacked it on....

im very very very happy with the results for my first ever attempt. i didnt do any "slugs" of weld because i ddint wanna distort the panel. so im just gonna keep tacking and eventually they will join. this will keep the heat low.

and i need to sort out the rear corner still
but check out that door gap perfect :>

Fair play for having a go and learning. IMO, be careful what you spend...you'll never get a return on it if/when you sell it.

cheers guys for the comments,

i welded in another patch today in the sill, quite a big patch
and also one of the squares in the rear corner, and also connected up the rear of the new arch and the old panel are now joined.
