View Full Version : Gutter Strips - The solution

As most of you know the gutter strips on Nova's get rather brittle with age and crack.

They're not that difficult to replace, but it's sourcing them that's harder now as the early ones and offside later one (in blue/grey) are NLS from Vauxhall.

So it's only the later near side one is available from you local dealer.

My problem was i needed both, as i wanted to keep the car as original as possible, just removing them wasn't as option i wanted to take.

After finding a Nova in a local scrapyard with a good pair of strips on it, i carefully removed them, paid for them and took them home.

However, i easily forgot which was the drivers and passenger side.
It was quite obvious that while they're stated and LH and RH at Vauxhall, they'll fit on either side.

I took the chance and ordered a pair of Nearside strips (90320323 - £24.10 + VAT each) from Vauxhall. I picked them up Friday and fitted them.

Et Viola.

Very happy with the fit of the one on the wrong side.

I've got some off a Nove which Dougie broke. I can't quite justify spending £25> on some new ones as these are fine. Any idea what to use to stick them on?

I agree, they're not cheap. However, worth it IMO for the original look.

I used Silkoset (acquired from work http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p317/chero06/smilies/eusa_shhh.gif (http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p317/chero06/smilies/eusa_shhh.gif)) , i would have thought any flexible adhesive would work.

Yep, the first and third pics in my orginal post show a nearside strip on the offside gutter. :D

Thanks for all the +reps. :thumb:

Because they ran out of one side & no-longer make them.

If I knew one side was still available, I couldve told anyone they would fit. The contour isnt very pronounced & the gutters will bend easily enough.
