What do people use to affix flat panels to the door/quarters when they aren't running standard cards? I want something removable. IIRC Nick J has some cool fasteners on his awesome Nova - well the whole car is awesome lol

I was thinking some decent velcro but that's pretty gay!

Ideas lads, anyone that says wood screws gets -ve rep lol

could you use some form of sticky backed plastic hook, ive seen some knocking around here but i don't know what they are for!!

you could stick them on then slot them into the existing panel holes

Cheers dude, just to clarify, it isn't for a Nova (asked on a few sites, may as well post here too lol) and I've cut away the inside of the door where the original door cards 'popped' on.

I have a flat edge about 1/2" wide running the perimeter of the area I want to cover though so sticking/bolting etc them down won't be a problem still.

I don't know which hook things you mean lol. I'm off to check Nick J's WIP.

The back end trim on my Celica has some funky little push in fasteners. They're in two parts - one is a holder which has legs and sits on the hole on the trim and car, like a wall grip. A smal plastic pin pushes in and splays the legs of the grip out. To remove, just push the pin in further and the legs release. Considering they're only little plastic things, they actually hold trim panels pretty darned well.

Good shout Jack. Yeah I have (or had) those in various places too. Must be a Japanese panel fastening method lol. Only issue was most of mine were grey. Typical. I was just at the scrap yard on Saturday and saw two G6 Celicas lol.

I forgot about the OEM style fasteners as I was probably getting carried away wanting something over engineered for no real purpose lol

I shall +ve rep you if the internet will allow :)

My day of internet fail! :D

Aye, my bumpers were held along the top with them too, on a '98 car although those clips are huge.

Just found this in my PB account

More the size I am after yet these are the type where you prise out the centreI remember getting these in error as I needed grey ones at the time.

I would still prefer something not made of plastic I guess, but the RJ ones are top choice for now

Have you tried 'zeus fastners'. They are like 1/4 turn fastners and have allen heads or phillips heads.

Do you mean Dzus mate? Seemed a bit overkill IMO. I intend on using them in certain areas but I can't see me needing the door panels off very often if at all - but it's always wise to be able to remove them lol.

The Dzus stuff seems like a mine field too, many choices and hard to know what's what with no pics!

Cheers all.

They look good mate. Thanks. I can offer nothing but +ve rep lol.

I got sidetracked with Nick J's car before and never found what I was after lol

I'll go check Mikes WIP now, or raid his PB account if public lol - I wonder if you can get a flush(er) version.

Ooh! Doors any good? :D

tbh mate you might as well just get them from a dealer, I bought some a couple years ago for pennies. And they'd be black :D

I'll get them from the stealers but I just like to have something in my hand and/or a a part number so I can order stuff. My mate works on the service desk at Toyota so I'll give him a text.

Unsure on door condition mate, should be back up there this weekend, so will look for you. One was red and the other white though lol.

Don't tell me your door bottoms are away? :(

I can't see the photos at work but from the jist of the description, are they the same little plastic push fittings that are found on the fin part of the Nova GSi skirt? Looked OE when I removed them anyway...

I had something very similar to whats been described holding the fin part to the rear arch on my old Nova van, with a little peg pushed through the middle that expanded the legs and held both items together very well. Must be pennies too, and black!!

HTH :)

Not sure what sort of panel yor fixing, but i have carbon panels held on with these Rivnuts

http://www.nutserts.co.uk/images/Nutsert%20-%20Reduced%20CSK%20Head%20(rivet%20nut).png

What you do is drill the panel hehind where you want to mount the door card etc, insert the Rivnut (you will now need a special tool similar to a pop rivet gun).
What it does it leave a thread behind. You then drill in my case the carbon panel and get some nice stainless / ally button head screws and screw them in.
Hey presto job done!

Cheers mate. Rivnuts! I remember seeing those on your or Nick J/Keiths WIPs I'm certain.

Will look into those. Thanks mate :thumb:
