Could be firefox not shutting down cleanly.

AVG is poo these days, try Avast or Malware Bytes instead.

rock out a ctrl shift delete when you have firefox open, close firefox, pc off, pc on, open firefox sign in again, see if it keeps!

^ ctrl alt delete? That won't help as you're doing a kill -9 on the firefox process and stopping it from closing cleanly.

It WOULD be worth looking in task manager when you close firefox normally to see if its hanging around in memory - I sometimes find the process takes a while to close even though the gui application has gone, if you shutdown the computer before that process ends that could be whats stopping it from saving its settings.

My firefox is doing the same, thought it may have been the cookies, so cleaned them but still nothing - anyone sorted this yet?

strangely enough i meant ctrl SHIFT delete!

which brings up the privacy options box to clear cookies history ect, also known as the porn box lol

hopefully this will sort it :

http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Profiles#How_to_find_your_profile

follow that ^ and click the .default profile, close firefox and delete 'cookies.sqlite' file (or rename it)

Worked for me :)
