Think my lucks in!!

I think my luck maybe in lol!!Right here goes!

I won a Astra on ebay with a 2.5v6 lump in for £200 10 months mot 5 months tax. The guy said that it started smoking 1 day for no reason, so i thought crank rings etc etc, and it needed a new starter motor and the rockers were leaking. So i went and had a look and bidded him £150 on it and he accepted!! So i towed it home as the battery was fooked and bumped it and it started it chuffed some smoke out but no knocks or bangs?? So i took the rocker covers off and did a bodge temp job with some sealer!! I then checked the oil and it was TWICE! over the level!! So i drained out some oil and now shes basically stopped smoking!! Theres oil everywhere from the rocker leak but my conclusion is that because the rockers were leaking the bloke put double the oil in etc etc. Im going to get some new gaskets tommorow and clean all the oil off underneath and try and sort the starter problem!! So ive been driving it round today and all seems fine!! It has smoked on occasons but clears so hopefully after and oil change she will be sweet!! Heres some piccys opinions please!!:thumb:

Nice1! my mate bought a X reg vectra 2.0 dti with 18"s and a few nice bits for £250, a R reg 2.5 V6 running on 5cyl for £150 with 10 months MOT! the bloke was gonna scrap it as he also thought the engine was fooked, S/H coilpack fitted and all is well!!!

Just goes to show you can still get some ebay bargins:)

Thats cool what a bargain, i would say how do you manage to be enough of a plum to put double the oil in but ive seen it done haha!

If its got the original plastic rocker cover on it, then they leak like a mofo (mine did) as they warp. I fitted some alloy Vectra ones and they have been great - only problem is you can't use the Ecotec cover as the oil cap is in a differrent place on the vectra covers.

you can the amount of sealer on the plastic ones and they still leaked - slap some Vectra one & if you bliiiingy like Benn you can polish them up too :)

mate the belmont is quicker than the v6 and runs so sweet pulls all day long it would be a shame to pull it apart the only 1 reason i would is for a LET!:thumb:

yeah lol they are comfy as fook but the drivers seats doesnt seem to want to move and im only 5ft 9 lol so i have to badboi/chav it and basically lie down :roll:
