Maybe a stupid thread.. but.. my starter motor on the 1200 has just packed its bags and left. It spools up but doesn't turn over, it sounds like a razor lol.

I know I need to source another, but just wondering what the cause of it is? It used to make a funny noise after starting, and a mate says that is due to dust in the starter?

pour a cap of oil in the end of the starter as this can make a starter last alot more like another six months.

dust??lol

It will either be the brushes worn out, the drive gear worn or the solenoid...

Either way, it takes less than 10 mins to remove - DO IT!;)

sounds like the solonoid has been sticking out and when the engine turns it also turns the motor...... by sounds of it you have hasd an over heated solonoid and burned it out.... either that or your flywheel ring gear has decided to pack its ags rather then the motor!

The starter has unpacked its bags and is staying for an unknown amount of time! I will wait for it to break again before replacing.

Thanks for your comments regardless :thumb: :thumb:
