may as well get a recess done TBO as you will have to cover your old numberplate light over and spray it?
there well easy

thinking about it again you will find anything with a recess will have a suitable light with it.............
also you can get them bolts cant you that replace the number plate bolts - they light sideways so you cant see light from behind bolt but they light up the plate

they can do for a couple of reasons. you cant have a light on in the car when your driving. It's illegal so when ever you turn your lights on it will be illegal. Also, if it aint secure they can fail you on that too. Just recess it!!!
Not sure what cars you can use the recess from. Any ideas anyone?
CJ, i used a sierra numberplate lamp, the only thin is, is that it shines backwards a little 2!

Anton used recess from an alfa, looks cool cos it has little LEDs instead of fat lights to light up the numberplate. smooth.

and here it is, (also for sale on ebay at the moment!) :D

you could try this which someone above suggested, but I think you are gonna have to make that recess...it's a piece of p to do too! ...like on my m8 Baps car...

But personally I'd have gone for the plate offset to the right, covering up the towing eye...like on my m8 Beef's car...

what number plate light is that?
Pan@SW-CC
23-01-03, 10:53 PM
they are both standard Nova plate lights relocated and flipped upside down...but they are cut into the bumper

they pass the mot?
Pan@SW-CC
23-01-03, 11:02 PM
yup...they'd only fail if there was direct white light visible to anyone behind the car (I think)...although they both definately passed the MOT's

:? dont u think that they look a bit out of place just screwed to a bumper like that?
8) recess all the way - just my opinion like
8) I LOVE the GDi logo on that silk violet nova - v difrent
Opelnova, i put mine 2 1 side to cover the tow eye, i placed it on an aluminium plate with a 90deg fold on it for strength, and to keep it flat! go 4 a square plate if u like!

the offset plate looks really nice though ...gotta see it up close...I aint got any recent pics.
Beef put a few blobs of fiberglass on the bumper where the plate was going, then screwed the plate to it.

how about this then...keep both parties happy?
You dont legally need a rear towing eye, so why not do away with it, and offset a recess?
It'd work, and I dont ever recall seeing one elsewhere?
