I'm looking to find out my engine number so I can update my V5 form. I’ve looked on the engine but the numbers are very tricky to make out.

I've found: 80232 (I think)

However it appears to have more numbers about an inch below that I just can't make out. I've tried cleaning them with a needle, thinners, cloth and sanding but I can't really make them out still

So does anybody know how long a number it should be?

Thank you very much.

I don't have an old number lol .

It was a new engine from Vauxhall 5 years ago, so I can't find it out from a previous car. I'm only after the amount of charaters I'm looking for.

Went to a local Vauxhall garage at break , He seemed to think it would be C16XE (followed by 6-8 numbers)

Mine looks like (3-4 numbers) BB 80232 :( , doesn't say c16xe anywherelol

But I don't want to get it wrong and send it off !

Thank you for you help tho

generally it will have C16xe going up toward the top of the block and then the 8 digit engine number stamped on afterwards.

if the engine is a vauxhall recon replacement it will have different numbers.. you will have to speak to vauxhall about it.

The recon C16XE I owned had a silver OPEL plaque with the numbers printed on.
When I enquired at a dealer & quoted the number the parts guy just said thats a recon block & knew nothing more about it. Pretty useless tbh.

Other than for V5 purposes I wouldnt worry. IIRC its 6 digits after the engine code.

well when we used to build engines we just put SF and date it was built.
