i am painting my cam carrier and cam cover with hammerite smooth and acid etch primer. have done 3 coats of primer with rubbing down between. sprayed the hammerite on and it has run between the lines and on the OHC part of the cover leaving the edges of the lines and any corners primer grey. has anyone come across this before or am i just useless at painting  :tard:

Dont rub down inbetween!

Hammeright is thick and easy to get runs in. You bneed to dust the coats on lightly.

kk, it seems to be going on like its really thin, but will let it dry properly, rub it down and try again then! im not looking for a show type of finish, just an ok one...

Yeah it is, thats why you have to dust it on.

I found hammerite took loads of coats to do my block etc, used nearly a whole 400ml can doing it and theres still some slightly dull patches

Was this block left out side or in the cold when the paint was drying?

in the garage, and depending what day it was either fairly warm or fairly cold lol

The coldness will make the gloss finish dry dull :thumb:

I meant dull in colour, as in you can still see the grey of the block through it
