Don't do it Benn, It weakens the front of the car and you'll have plenty of room without doing it.

^ what he said. I made mine removable, front end was like a kit kat wrapper!
Slam panels on there own are no longer available. Have to buy the slam and headlight panel. As i found out after ringing round the other week.

I'm only thinking of removing the center bit. For cleanace of dropping the engine in with turbo on, see it being easier with turbo fited while on the stand.. Everything i've seen make it look like cleanace is a biut tight..
Have to bars to brace it from removing the surport bar all ready. For strench.

A lot of the later vauxhalls (Corsa C/Meriva/Astra H) have removeable slam panels, which are simply bolted in the top and front of the panel - So I don't see a loss of strength if done correctly - All the ones I've done have overlapped the original panel and have bolted in from the top and front (just behind the headlights) - I'll see If I can find a picture
Dave
Thats how i'll do it too, cut the old one out leaving 2inch of metal to over lap the new one, would do it at the first to lumped up bits from the center (if that makes sence)

The button head bolts are seen behind the headlights/ontop of the slam panel and on the centre support brace - the panel is cut at the 'bump' near the headlights :thumb:

Strength seems ok on the ones I've done - Don't see much point in only cutting the 'second bump section ' out - It only reveals a small opening to access the turbo/radiator - might as well go the whole hog and remove the whole panel allowing the rad etc to be easily removed
Dave
Never found getting the rad out a prob, but ok.
I'll have to have a look when i get the new one. See if its worth it.
