I have a base modle nova with the head unit blank off plate! I was told the the wiring should just be tucked up behind. I had a look behind it but could not see any wiring! Do all of them have the wiring harnes for the head unit?

If they dont is there any way off fitting a head unit?

cheers dave

from what i've heard some base spec's dont have the wiring harness for the stereo, so you'll need to make one up or get one from scrappies/someone breaking or selling on here. then its just a case of removing the dash to fit it all up.

you can get a stereo harness out of a model with a stereo
they just unplug from the main loom

on 1 mk1 they plug into the fuse box iirc and a random earth in the middle of the blukhead.

And a loom wouldnt be hard to make up, depends if you want rear speakers/leccy ariel etc

Pish easy then. Get a ISO plug from the likes of halfords, bit of wire, and then a couple of connections for the speakers.

Or pay me to make one lol

its not a hard job to do mate, all you need is a live, ignition live and a earth
and then run twin wire to where you want the speakers, add a couple of inline fuses to the two lives and your away.
if you were closer id come and do it for you, half an hour job :)

i haver got a loom from a mate! At the small plug that connects to the main loom i have 3 wires. Black,Red,Green/Grey. I take it Black is earth. Red is power. What is the Green/Grey one? Also on a mk1 what colour wire behind the glove box will be a ignition live? cheers dave

Green/gray is Illumination for when you turn your lights on/off.

Red will be permanent 12V, black will be switched 12V. Never mistake black for an earth / ground on cars it is rarely the case. Ground will be brown / screw to chassis somewhere.
From what I remember the loom does connect to the main loom via a 3 - pin plug. I once owned a nova with the stereo blank fitted:eek: - they must be mega rare now - for good reason.
