On one pully or what?

Have the jets for the carbs been altered at all? Sounds as though you may not be getting enough fuel still.

aaronc190

yes jets were drilled out to 165..and yes on one pully

i even tryed easy start and was showing no signs of starting

May sound daft. Have you plenty of additional earths? Have you ever had the engine running before the extras were added?

aaronc190

no dont have aditional earths?can you tell me were to put them??...yes engine was flying i bought a running vectra and took it out of it

Personally I would fit them to anywhere that already has earth straps ie alternator (2 I think) gearbox to inner wing, pretty much everywhere that's got one really. Maynot fix it but worth a try :)

Oh also you mention mbe. Has a base map been set up to run the r1 carbs?

can you tell me what the earths will do for it??..cause i have a spark and fuel..

Just that the engine will need a good earth for getting it running. They are renound for needing better earths. Another thought is the fuel pump working okay? Also is it the right way round ie inlet and outlet pipes?

if you can grab a compression tester from someone i'd check it just to be on the safe side. if it has compression it should still atleast try to start with the cambelt one tooth out

got the cam timing sorted but still wont start??what else could be the problem..?..wat compression have these got??(psi)

20quid says the problem is the megajolt map/loom/edis system.
Maybe a dead coilpack or edis module, or a bad crank trigger signal.
How have you got the ford 36-1 trigger wheel mounted???

aaronc190

the trigger wheel and crank sensor was mounted on the cam pully..i was told it wont work like this?

Adam

So how many tooth wheel are you using?

Dont forget the crank sensor is 36-1, but the crank rotates twice for each rotation of the cam.
So a 36-1 tooth wheel on the cam sensor wont work if the EDIS is expecting 36-1 crank signal

as above cam shafts turn at half the crank rpm, its a crank sensor so should be on the crank.

this would not stop it from sparking but will not spark in the correct place at all. are you getting a decent spark to all your plugs?

compression test i would expect around 12bar or more on each cylinder
