engine numbers help?

is there any way i can find out what car (and year) my c20xe engine came out of. i got the engine numbers and i have rang d.v.l.a and they said they dont have access to this info. its a dizzy type xe with engine numbers starting 1410........ can ANYONE help. thanks ADAM

Most XE's start 140...lol

If its a dizzy its more than likely an early one.

14067431 thats the engine number of an XE i broke up. Came out of a 1991 H plate Astra GTE.

just didnt want to display the entire engine number on the forum. ( incase people decide to 'aquire' it) mine is 1410 ... not 140... . noticed on some part websites they say ... Up to eng. 14180385 etc. dont know if lets say all astras with xe were stamped with a code 140..1 and 140..100 if you know what i mean.
