306 durbo is insurance friendly, one of the best power-to-insurance-group ratios available for something cheap.

Cav or vectra would also be a good choice. Senator or early omega too, but you're looking at minimum 1.8 so insurance may be an issue, however it would be a mile muncher and comfortable.

What about dub - golf? Jetta? Passat? Cheap and reliable for older stuff. Insurance shouldn't be too much on base spec models.

As for auto, fcuk that and tell Tania to learn to drive a proper gearbox.

Sloth

true mike, but i'm not a vr6 fan tbh, 20v turbo ftw! i did win an astra mk3 cdx estate with leather etc in 2.0 flavour, but the guy emailed me and said the cam belt had snapped. gutted tbh. theres a tidy c reg 525 beemer kicking round thats for sale, i may go for a look....

How can you not be a fan of 200 something lb/ft of torque as standard & scope for 300 bhp for less then £1000?

Sloth
10-05-09, 10:52 PM
teh dated 12v design, and the general design, and the fact most have been ragged, and need rebuilds, or at least cam chains. 20vt all the way mate. in a mk1 goof, mmmmmmmmm...........
