Win...
chaterham 7
Fail...lol
As for your chassis problem, try searching about. Is it a project he is starting?
ebay? do you mean an actual caterham chassis? or a locust, because if you want just a chassis, you might as well buy a locust chassis (or if your good with a welder, buy ron champions book) unless you buy a knackered caterham (though i doubt any exist)

Loads of knackered caterhams around from trackday accidents etc I'd imagine, but twisted and bent chassis are no good to anyone lol

This is the book, thanks mowgli, like I said above, you need to be handy with a welder and know your stuff, but I think the pre-cut lengths of metal are available for less than £200 from ebay
to be honest, having got a copy from a church booksale this weekend for £1.50, it is a doddle to do the steel cutting, & a trip to yellow pages will get the steel a load cheaper than £200

there is a huge demand for straightened chassis, and as they are made from tube steel, just cut the bent bit out, jig it & weld in a new one... its easy for a decent body shop
I would love to build a kit car.
One day!

Bigger doesnt mean better IMO. Some have fitted V6's....
can buy the RH zero chassis for £450 new which is almost exactly the same as the caterham but you dont have to get bent over and lubbed up to buy it
£450??? not £4500?yes £450. the kit is only £2000 so why would they charge £4500 for a bare chassis lol
ohh i was on the RH site. where dya get it for 450?? im interested
for £450 you get the bare chassis which is what i assume he was after

There's a place on e-bay that does a pre-cut tube kit for the haynes roadster (slightly bigger than the locost) for a couple of hundred if you fancy some welding.

contact details are on there. give them a call

Uniqueness isnt a good reason for engine choice if you have to ask can it be done. You're asking for trouble.

So this is your project or your step dads?? Its that age old thing...if you have to ask what may fit and how to go about doing it, then probably could be opening a can of worms...IMO.

It is his like but ill be helping were i can he wants to know if anyone tried it as he thinks it will fit but he dont know anyone thats tried it and dont want to be boring and put the same engine as every one else that ever makes one of these
I would go with the tried and tested method, easier to get help with it if or when you come across any problems

You could, provided the chassis is wide enough for it to fit. The omega gearbox is a big lump though, I'd go for a ford type 9 with a bellhousing to suit an XE.

^ which is what most do IIRC? If you want turbo power....get over to MIG. Bloke on there is building one with a C20LET  Very cool build indeed.
